The postcode for Gatwick Airport South Terminal is RH6 0NP and the postcode for the North Terminal is RH6 0PJ. Put the right one in your sat nav and it will take you to the terminal forecourt rather than a car park, a cargo road or one of the hotels around the edge of the airport.

Gatwick is a big site with two terminals about a mile apart, so “postcode to Gatwick Airport” is one of the most searched questions about the place. This guide gives you both postcodes, explains how to work out which terminal you need, and covers the drop-off charge, picking someone up, the business parks around the airport and what a taxi to Gatwick costs from nearby towns. It’s written by Airports Taxi UK, and our drivers use these same postcodes every day.

Gatwick Airport Postcodes

Place Postcode Notes
South Terminal RH6 0NP Next to Gatwick Airport railway station
North Terminal RH6 0PJ Linked to the South Terminal by a free shuttle train

Both postcodes sit in Horley, West Sussex, on the edge of Crawley. The railway station is part of the South Terminal building, so if you’re meeting someone off a train, use RH6 0NP.

Which Terminal Is My Flight From?

Your booking confirmation or airline app will show the terminal. Airlines do move between the North and South Terminals from time to time, so it’s worth checking a few days before you travel rather than relying on where you flew from last year. If you end up at the wrong one, don’t panic. The inter-terminal shuttle runs every few minutes, takes about two minutes and is free. You don’t need a ticket.

When you book a taxi with us, tell us the terminal and we’ll drop you at the right forecourt. If you’re not sure at the time of booking, put South Terminal and update it later. We only need it before the driver sets off. For more on how the two terminals differ, see our North vs South Terminal guide.

Using the Postcode in a Sat Nav

Most people reach Gatwick from the M23. Leave at junction 9 and follow the short spur road towards the airport. Signs split for the North and South Terminals at the roundabouts, so keep an eye out for them as some sat navs give late instructions here. From the south, the A23 through Crawley joins the same roads.

A postcode covers an area rather than a single door. RH6 0NP and RH6 0PJ will get you to the right terminal approach, but once you’re close, follow the road signs for “Drop off” or “Short stay parking” rather than the voice in the dashboard. If you’re using a phone app, typing “Gatwick South Terminal” or “Gatwick North Terminal” usually works just as well as the postcode.

Dropping Off at Gatwick

Both terminals have a drop-off zone right outside departures. Gatwick charges £10 for using it, and the charge is collected by number plate recognition, so there’s no barrier and no ticket. You pay online, and the deadline is midnight the day after your visit. Miss it and a penalty notice follows.

If you’d rather not pay, the long stay car parks offer free drop-off for a short period, with a shuttle bus to the terminal. It takes longer, so allow an extra 20 to 30 minutes.

With Airports Taxi UK you don’t need to think about any of this. Every fare to Gatwick already includes the drop-off charge, along with ULEZ and the London Congestion Charge where the route uses them.

Picking Someone Up From Gatwick

There’s no free waiting at the terminal doors. Drivers collecting passengers usually use the short stay car parks, which are a few minutes’ walk from arrivals and are charged at short stay rates. A Gatwick short stay pick up is simple once you know which car park belongs to which terminal, and we’ve put the details, including where to wait and how long the free long stay option gives you, in our Gatwick pick-up guide.

If you book us for an arrival, the driver meets the passenger inside the arrivals hall with a name board. We track the flight and include an hour of free waiting after landing, so a delay at passport control doesn’t cost anything.

Gatwick Airport Offices and Business Parks

A lot of people searching for the Gatwick Airport office are heading to work rather than catching a flight. Gatwick Airport Limited’s own offices are at Destinations Place, close to the South Terminal. City Place Gatwick, a business park near the North Terminal, houses airline, travel and engineering firms. A little further south, the Manor Royal business district in Crawley is one of the largest in the South East.

These sites don’t use the terminal postcodes, so check the exact address with whoever you’re visiting. We run regular business transfers to all of them, and we can set up an account for firms that send staff to Gatwick often. Ask us about invoicing when you book.

How Far Is Gatwick, and What Does a Taxi Cost?

Here’s what a taxi to Gatwick costs from some of the places we pick up from most often. These are live fixed fares from our booking system for a saloon to the South Terminal, with an MPV price for larger groups. The North Terminal is usually a few pounds less.

From Saloon MPV (6 seats)
Crawley £36.94 £48.67
Dorking £55.32 £71.81
Croydon £62.80 £81.33
Brighton £70.48 £91.13
Tunbridge Wells £81.03 £105.04
Maidstone £85.93 £111.33
Heathrow Airport £90.60 £117.11
Ashford £108.84 £140.54
Central London £112.54 £144.37

Prices can move slightly with the date and time, so use the booking form for your exact quote. Whatever it shows when you book is the price you pay.

On distance, Crawley to Gatwick Airport is only a few miles, while central London is roughly 28 miles and usually takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. The distance between Heathrow and Gatwick is around 45 miles by the M25 and M23. A taxi between Heathrow and Gatwick normally takes about an hour, which is why it’s the most popular way to make a connection between the two airports.

When to Leave for Gatwick

Aim to arrive two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul one. Then work back from there using the journey time from your area, and add a margin for the M25 or M23 if you’re travelling at rush hour or on a Friday afternoon. Our drivers set off early on those routes as a matter of course, and we’ll suggest a pickup time when you book.

School holidays are the busiest weeks at Gatwick. Security queues get longer, and the drop-off zones fill up between 5am and 8am. Leaving 15 minutes earlier than you think you need is rarely wasted.

Which Vehicle Do You Need?

A saloon takes four passengers and two large cases. Choose an estate if you have four cases, or an MPV if there are up to six of you. For bigger families and groups we run 8 seaters that take eight people and eight cases. If you want something more comfortable for a business trip or a special occasion, our executive cars and executive minivans give you a luxury airport transfer to Gatwick at a fixed price.

Child seats are available for £10 per seat. Add them when you book so the driver brings the right ones.
