How the pick-up at Gatwick works
Add your flight number when you book. The driver follows the flight, so if it lands early or late, they adjust. After passport control and baggage reclaim, walk out into the arrivals hall of your terminal and look for your name on a board.
For airport collections the driver tracks the flight, so an early or late landing is not a problem. You get one hour of free waiting from the time the plane lands, and the driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board. For home or hotel pickups, the first five minutes of waiting are free.
If you cannot see the driver, stay in the arrivals hall rather than going outside to the taxi rank, and call the number in your confirmation. Pre-booked cars are not allowed to wait on the rank.
From the M23 to your front door
Out of Gatwick the driver takes the M23 north, then the A23 through Croydon, Streatham and Brixton, and crosses the river at Vauxhall or Chelsea Bridge into Belgravia. That is about 40 miles. Mid-afternoon it typically takes 77 minutes; an evening arrival into London can take longer, while a very early morning landing is quicker.
Belgravia’s garden squares are one-way in places and some mews are too narrow for a larger car. The driver will drop you as close as is safe and carry the cases to the door.
Embassies, private houses and hotels
Belgravia has many embassies and ambassadors’ residences, especially around Belgrave Square, and a number of grand private houses and hotels. Some addresses have security staff or gated entrances. Tell us in the notes if the driver needs to give a name at the gate, use a side entrance or call ahead, and we pass that on. For hotels, we stop at the main entrance unless you tell us otherwise.
Why not Gatwick Express to Victoria?
Victoria station is at the edge of Belgravia, and the Gatwick Express gets there in around half an hour. For a single traveller with a small case and an address near the station, it is a good choice. After a long-haul flight with heavy bags, though, the walk from the platform, the queue for a cab at Victoria and the short ride on top often cost as much effort as the whole trip. A car from the arrivals hall to your door removes all of that, and for three or four people the fare per head is reasonable: about £24.39 each in a saloon for four.
Arriving late at night
Late arrivals into Gatwick are common, especially on flights from the Middle East, the Americas and the Caribbean. We run all night at the same fixed price, so a 1am landing costs no more than a lunchtime one. Your driver will be in the arrivals hall whatever the time, and the roads into London are much quieter, so the trip to Belgravia is usually shorter.
North Terminal or South Terminal arrivals
Gatwick’s two terminals each have their own arrivals hall, and the driver goes to the one your flight uses. British Airways and many long-haul airlines use the North Terminal; a number of budget airlines use the South. easyJet uses both. Because the flight number tells us which, you do not need to work it out, but if you do land at the other terminal for any reason, call us and the driver will come round. The two are linked by a free shuttle train.
Luggage, pushchairs and golf clubs
A long trip usually means big cases. A saloon fits two large ones; four will need the estate at £105.79. Travelling with a baby? Ask for a baby seat when you book, at £10, and tell us the child’s age so we bring the correct type. Golf bags and skis fit in the estate or MPV; please mention them so we send a car with the space.
Is anything extra to pay on the day?
No. Our quote includes the clean-air and congestion charges in London, airport access fees, parking while the driver waits for you, and fuel. Rush hour or a closed lane does not change it. The only optional add-on is a child or booster seat at £10 each, which you request when booking.
The reason we quote this way is simple: on a long airport run the small extras add up. A drop-off fee here, a congestion charge there, parking while the driver waits for a delayed flight. We would rather show one honest figure. If you book a return trip at the same time, the booker takes 5% off the total.
Travelling the other way: Belgravia to Gatwick
For your departure, book a car from your Belgravia address to Gatwick at a similar fixed price. We suggest leaving three hours before a European flight and three and a half to four before long-haul. Book both legs together and you save 5% on the pair.
Choosing an executive car
Many guests arriving into Belgravia prefer the executive car (£122.87) or, for a family, the executive minivan (£159.11). They are quieter and roomier, and a good choice after a night flight. The executive car takes three passengers and two large cases; if you have more luggage, the estate or MPV is more practical.
Cars and how much they hold
Most couples are fine in a saloon. Families with a case each usually need the estate, because a saloon boot fits two big bags. Groups of up to six go in the MPV, and up to eight in the 8-seater, which also has room for eight large cases. If you want a Mercedes-style business car, book the executive (three passengers) or the executive minivan (eight).
All cars carry their stated number of passengers with a seat belt each. Children count as passengers, including babies in car seats. If you need a baby seat, child seat or booster, ask for it when you book (it is £10 a seat) and tell us the child’s age and weight so we bring the right one.
Belgravia and the neighbourhoods around it
We cover all of SW1 and SW3: Knightsbridge, Pimlico, Victoria, Sloane Square and Chelsea. If your address is near Hyde Park Corner, see Hyde Park to Gatwick taxi; for Chelsea, Chelsea to Gatwick taxi. The booker prices the exact address, so type it in for your quote.
What happens if my flight is diverted?
Occasionally a flight meant for Gatwick lands at Heathrow or Stansted instead. If that happens, call us as soon as you can. We will send the car to the airport you actually landed at and tell you the new fixed fare before the driver sets off, so there are no surprises.
How to book
Enter the pickup and drop-off in the form at the top of this page, pick a date and time, and the booker shows a fixed price for every car. Choose one, add your flight number if you have it, and confirm. Prefer to talk? Call +44 7575 470883, any time of day.
Once you book you get a confirmation with the details. The day before, check the pickup time and address are right; if anything needs changing, call us and we update it. Keep your phone on during the pickup window so the driver can reach you if they cannot find the door.
