Lufthansa uses Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport for its flights to Frankfurt and Munich, including those flown by Lufthansa City Airlines, both departures and arrivals. Ask for Terminal 2 at drop-off, and wait for your driver in the Terminal 2 arrivals hall when you land.
What Terminal Is Lufthansa at Manchester?
Terminal 2. Manchester changed its terminal names on 5 March 2026: the old Terminal 1 became Terminal 3, and only Ryanair flies from it. Every other airline, Lufthansa included, now runs from Terminal 2. If you last flew Lufthansa from Manchester a few years ago and remember a different terminal, that is why.
Lufthansa is a Star Alliance airline. Business Class passengers and eligible frequent flyers use the Aspire lounge in Terminal 2. Check the latest lounge and baggage rules on the official Lufthansa website before you fly.
Flying Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Munich
Most people on these flights are not stopping in Germany. They are connecting at Frankfurt or Munich onto long-haul Lufthansa flights to the US, Asia or the Middle East. That changes what you need from the drive to the airport:
- Allow long-haul timings. Your first leg is short, but security and bag drop are the same as for any T2 departure. Two hours before the Germany flight is the minimum.
- Book a car for long-haul luggage. Two people with two large cases each won’t fit a saloon comfortably. An estate takes four cases.
- Coming back, give us the Manchester flight number, not the long-haul one. We track that flight, so a delay at Frankfurt or Munich is picked up automatically.

Arriving Back on Lufthansa
Your driver waits inside the Terminal 2 arrivals hall with your name on a board. You get one hour of free waiting from the time the flight lands, which covers passport control and a slow bag belt on most days.
Groups and Corporate Travel
Teams flying out together to a trade fair in Frankfurt or Munich can go in an 8-seater or executive minivan rather than several cars. That keeps everyone on the same timing at the airport. Ask for an account if you book regularly.
