Quick answer: We run fixed-fare transfers from Gatwick to the UK’s main cruise ports, including Southampton, Dover, Portsmouth, Tilbury and Harwich. The driver meets you at arrivals, loads your cruise luggage and takes you straight to your terminal. Options run from saloons to 8-seaters for groups.

Plenty of cruise passengers fly into Gatwick before boarding, or fly home from Gatwick after disembarking. Getting between the airport and the ship with a week or two of luggage is where a door-to-door transfer really helps. This page covers those fly-cruise journeys. For every other route, see our main Gatwick airport taxi page.

Cruise ports we cover from Gatwick

Port Terminals and notes Route page
Southampton The UK’s busiest cruise port, with several terminals. Your cruise documents will name yours. Gatwick to Southampton cruise terminal
Portsmouth Portsmouth International Port, used by some cruise lines as well as ferries Gatwick to Portsmouth cruise terminal
Dover Dover’s cruise terminal, separate from the ferry port Gatwick to Dover
Tilbury London’s cruise terminal on the Thames, east of the city Gatwick to Tilbury cruise terminal
Harwich Harwich International Port in Essex Gatwick to Harwich port

Always check your cruise line’s documents for the exact terminal and check-in time. Ports with several terminals assign them by ship.

Planning a fly-cruise transfer from Gatwick

Leave plenty of time

These are long journeys, and missing embarkation isn’t an option. Build in time for passport control, baggage reclaim and traffic, and aim to arrive at the port within the check-in window on your cruise documents. If your flight lands close to embarkation day, many travellers prefer to fly in the day before and stay near the port or near Gatwick. See our Gatwick airport hotel transfers.

Give us your flight and ship details

The flight number lets the driver track your arrival. The ship name and terminal make sure you’re dropped at the right place.

Choose a vehicle for cruise luggage

Cruise luggage is usually bigger than a normal holiday’s: formal wear, several large cases, sometimes mobility aids. An estate or people carrier is often the minimum for a couple. For families or groups, see our 7-seater and 8-seater options.

Flying in the day before your cruise

For many passengers the most relaxed plan is to land a day early, stay overnight, and travel to the port the next morning. It takes the pressure off if your flight is delayed, and you arrive at the terminal rested. We can arrange both legs: Gatwick to your hotel on arrival, and hotel to the cruise terminal on embarkation day. If you’re staying near Gatwick, that first leg is short. If you’re staying near the port, we’ll take you there directly from arrivals.

Returning from a cruise to Gatwick

Disembarkation mornings can be unpredictable, as passengers leave the ship in groups over several hours. Tell us your disembarkation time and your flight time, and we’ll plan a pickup that gets you to Gatwick with time to spare. Give your flight number for the right terminal. Our North or South Terminal guide shows airlines by terminal.

Why a transfer instead of the train or coach?

Train or coach Pre-booked transfer
Luggage You carry it through stations and changes Loaded at the airport, unloaded at the terminal
Route Often one or more changes Direct, door to door
Delayed flight Missed connections to rebook Driver tracks the flight
Groups Individual tickets One fixed fare per vehicle

Groups and family cruises

Group cruises, family celebrations and friends sailing together are ideal for one larger vehicle. Everyone travels together, the luggage goes in one place and the cost is shared. If your group is too big for one vehicle, we can send two vehicles travelling at the same time.

Passengers with reduced mobility

If anyone in your party uses a wheelchair or needs help, tell us when you book, including whether the wheelchair folds. If you’ve arranged special assistance with your airline, let us know so the driver meets you at the right point.

What to include when you book

  • Flight number and landing time at Gatwick
  • Cruise line, ship name and embarkation terminal
  • Number of passengers and cases, plus any mobility aids
  • For returns: disembarkation time and your flight home
