A taxi from Bath to Bristol Airport costs £68.15 in a saloon with Airports Taxi UK. It’s a fixed fare for a 20-mile drive that usually takes 45 to 50 minutes. The airport drop-off charge is included, and when you fly home we track the flight and wait for an hour after landing at no extra cost.

Bristol Airport is the nearest airport to Bath, but it isn’t easy to reach. It sits on a hill at Lulsgate, south-west of Bristol, with no railway station and a cross-country road from Bath that the bus takes a long time over. A taxi from Bath to Bristol Airport goes door to door, which matters when you’ve got an early flight or a family’s worth of luggage.

We pick up from towns and villages across Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset. If you’re looking for an airport taxi in Swindon, Chippenham or Wells, these are the fares you’ll pay for Bristol Airport in a saloon.

The Route From Bath

There are two ways to go. The driver either heads west on the A4 towards Bristol and picks up the A38 south to the airport, or takes the country route across the Chew Valley on the A368 and A39. The country roads are shorter, but they’re narrow and slow behind tractors; the A4 is longer but faster outside rush hour. Our drivers choose based on the time of day.

Either way, the journey usually takes 45 to 50 minutes. The A4 through Keynsham and the approach to the A38 can be slow on weekday mornings, so for early flights in term time we allow a bit longer.

Taxi or Bus From Bath to Bristol Airport?

There’s a direct bus from Bath to Bristol Airport, and it’s much cheaper than a taxi if you’re on your own. But it takes longer, runs to a timetable, and the first departures won’t help with a 6am flight. If you’re going by train, you’d travel from Bath Spa to Bristol Temple Meads and then take the airport bus, with a change and two lots of luggage handling.

For couples and families, an early flight, or a late arrival home, the taxi is usually the better deal. A fixed fare shared between three or four people often comes close to the bus fares added together.

Pickups Across Bath and the Surrounding Area

  • Bath city centre, Widcombe, Larkhall, Weston, Combe Down and Bathwick
  • The University of Bath and Bath Spa University
  • Keynsham, Saltford, Midsomer Norton and Radstock
  • Bradford-on-Avon, Corsham, Melksham, Trowbridge and Chippenham
  • Frome, Wells, Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury

The driver comes to your door and helps with the luggage. In Bath’s narrower streets, they’ll stop as close as they legally can and come and find you. You get five minutes of free waiting at home pickups.

Chippenham and Wiltshire Pickups

Bristol Airport is the nearest airport for most of north Wiltshire too. From Chippenham the drive is about an hour, joining the A4 near Bath or taking the M4 and the Bristol ring road, depending on traffic. A taxi from Chippenham to Bristol Airport is £85.06 in a saloon. From Swindon it’s £100.69. For Swindon, Heathrow is sometimes the better choice if your flight goes from there. Just put the airport and your address in the booking form for a price.

Wells and Mid Somerset

Wells is one of the closest cities to Bristol Airport, about 18 miles away via the A39 and A368 or the A37. The drive takes around 40 minutes and costs £62.16 in a saloon. Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet and Cheddar are a similar distance.

Visitors Staying in Bath

Bath is full of hotels, guest houses and holiday lets, and many of our Bristol Airport bookings come from visitors heading home. If you’re staying in Bath, give us the name of your hotel or the address of your rental and we’ll collect you from the door. If the street is tricky to stop in, add a note and the driver will call when they’re close. Hotel receptions are happy to book on behalf of guests too.

Students at the University of Bath and Bath Spa

At the start and end of each term, a lot of international students fly in and out of Bristol. The University of Bath campus at Claverton Down and Bath Spa’s Newton Park campus are both outside the city centre, which makes the bus journey to the airport longer still. A taxi from campus goes straight to the terminal. Book the estate if you’re taking a full set of luggage home.

Coming Home to Bath

For your return, book with your flight number. We track the flight, so delays or an early landing are handled automatically. The driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board, and you get an hour of free waiting after the plane lands. Bristol Airport’s taxi rank can be busy when several flights land together, so a pre-booked car saves the queue.

When to Leave Bath for Your Flight

Bristol Airport gets very busy in the early morning peak, when most holiday flights depart. Aim to arrive two hours before a European flight and three before long-haul. Leaving Bath an hour before you need to be at the airport gives you a margin for traffic. For a 6:30am departure, a pickup around 3:30am is sensible. Tell us your flight time when booking and we’ll suggest a time.

Airport Parking or a Taxi?

Bristol Airport’s car parks fill up in the summer and parking for a fortnight isn’t cheap, especially if you book late. A return taxi from Bath costs a fixed amount, there’s no shuttle bus from a remote car park, and nobody has to drive home after a late flight. For holidays of a week or more, it’s often the cheaper option, and certainly the easier one.

Groups, Weddings and Family Holidays

Bath is a popular wedding city, and we regularly run guests between their hotels and Bristol Airport. For groups of up to eight with luggage, one 8 seater on a single fixed fare is usually cheaper than several cars. Larger groups can have more than one vehicle timed to arrive together.

Which Vehicle Do You Need?

A saloon carries four passengers and two large cases. Book the estate if you have four suitcases, the MPV for up to six passengers, or the 8 seater for eight people with eight cases. Our executive cars suit business travellers. Child seats cost £10 each.

Why Book With Airports Taxi UK?

Our fares are fixed when you book, our drivers are licensed, and we take bookings at any hour. The same service runs to every major UK airport, so if you ever fly from Heathrow or Gatwick instead, the booking works the same way.
