The car you need for an airport transfer depends more on your suitcases than on the number of people. A saloon seats four but takes only two large cases, so most families flying abroad need an estate or bigger. This guide matches common trips to the right car and shows what the difference costs.
How much each car holds
| Car | Passengers | Suitcases | Victoria to Gatwick | Heathrow T5 to Victoria |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Saloon | 4 | 2 | £94 | £66 |
| Estate | 4 | 4 | £102 | £73 |
| Executive | 3 | 2 | £118 | £86 |
| MPV | 6 | 4 | £120 | £85 |
| 8-seater | 8 | 8 | £120 | £85 |
| Executive minivan | 8 | 8 | £154 | £113 |
Capacities are those set in our booking system. Fares are fixed one-way prices from October 2026 on two of our most booked routes, to show the gap between cars; your own route will be priced in the booking form.
Match your trip to a car
Two people, a case each. A saloon is fine. Hand luggage goes on the back seat or in the boot alongside.
Two people on a long trip with four cases. Take the estate. To Gatwick from Victoria it costs £8 more than the saloon.
A family of four with a case each. The estate again. The saloon can carry all four of you but only half the bags.
A family with a pushchair or sports bags. Look at the 8-seater. It costs the same as the MPV and has twice the suitcase space, which is where bulky items end up.
Five or six people. The MPV and the 8-seater are the same price on every route, so there is no reason not to take the 8-seater and have room for eight cases instead of four.
Seven or eight people. The 8-seater, or the executive minivan if you want a higher-specification vehicle. Eight people sharing an 8-seater from Victoria to Gatwick pay £15 each.
One to three business travellers. The executive car, which takes three passengers and two cases.
What it costs per person
The whole car is priced, not each passenger, so a fuller car is cheaper per head:
| Group | Car | Victoria to Gatwick total | Per person |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 people | Saloon | £94 | £47 |
| 4 people | Estate | £102 | £26 |
| 6 people | 8-seater | £120 | £20 |
| 8 people | 8-seater | £120 | £15 |
Child seats
We can fit child seats for £10 per seat. Say how many you need, and the ages of the children, in the notes when you book. A family of four with two young children travelling from Victoria to Gatwick in an estate would pay £102 for the car plus £20 for two seats, £122 in total.
Tell us what you are bringing
The booking form asks for the number of suitcases and pieces of hand luggage, and has a notes box. Use the notes for anything unusual: a pushchair, golf clubs, skis, a bike box or a wheelchair. It is far easier to send the right car than to discover at the kerb that the boot will not close.
If you are unsure whether everything will fit, choose the next size up. From Victoria to Gatwick, the 8-seater costs £18 more than the estate and carries twice as many cases.

Common questions
How many suitcases fit in a taxi to the airport?
In our cars: 2 in a saloon or executive car, 4 in an estate or MPV, and 8 in an 8-seater or executive minivan.
What size taxi do I need for 4 people and 4 suitcases?
An estate. It seats four and takes four suitcases. A saloon would only take two of the cases.
Do you provide child seats?
Yes. Child seats cost £10 per seat. Add them in the notes when you book.
Is an 8-seater more expensive than an MPV?
No. On our routes the MPV and the 8-seater cost exactly the same, so larger groups get the extra luggage space for nothing.
