A taxi to East Midlands Airport costs from £42.55 with Airports Taxi UK. Nottingham to the airport is £52.20 in a saloon, Derby is £51.19 and Leicester is £60.51, all fixed when you book. Every fare includes the airport drop-off charge, and on the way home we track your flight and give you an hour of free waiting after landing.

East Midlands Airport sits between Nottingham, Derby and Leicester, at Castle Donington just off the M1. It’s the local airport for a huge area and mainly handles holiday and European flights. It’s close to all three cities, but public transport to it is limited, especially early in the morning. That’s why so many people book a taxi to EMA.

Taxi to East Midlands Airport From Nottingham

From Nottingham the driver usually takes the A453 past Clifton, which runs almost straight to the airport. In normal traffic it’s around 25 minutes from the city centre. West Bridgford, Beeston, Clifton and the southern suburbs are a little quicker; Arnold, Hucknall and the north of the city take a bit longer. A taxi to East Midlands Airport from Nottingham costs £52.20 in a saloon from the centre.

From Derby and Leicester

From Derby it’s a short run down the A50 to the M1 and A453, about 25 minutes. From Leicester, the driver takes the M1 north to junction 23A or 24, which takes about 35 minutes outside rush hour. Loughborough is the closest large town, only 15 minutes away, which makes it one of the cheapest airport taxi fares we run.

Cheapest Taxi to East Midlands Airport: What to Check

If you’re comparing for the cheapest taxi to East Midlands Airport, look at what the price covers. Our fares include:

  • The East Midlands Airport drop-off charge
  • Five minutes of free waiting at your door
  • Flight tracking and an hour of free waiting when you return
  • Meet and greet inside the arrivals hall
  • A fixed price that doesn’t change with traffic or the time of day

Some cheap taxis to East Midlands Airport look cheaper until waiting time or the drop-off charge is added. To keep the cost down, book a saloon if four of you fit with your bags, and book the return together for 5% off it.

Taxi or Bus to East Midlands Airport?

The Skylink bus connects the airport with Nottingham, Derby, Leicester and Loughborough, and it’s cheap. It’s a good option if you’re travelling light and live near a stop. But it takes longer than a car, the early morning services are limited, and you’ll have to get to the stop with your bags.

East Midlands Parkway is the nearest railway station, but it isn’t at the airport, so you’d need a bus or taxi from there too. For a family holiday, an early flight or anyone with a lot of luggage, a taxi is the simpler choice. For three or four people, the fare per person is often close to the bus fare.

Airport Parking or a Taxi?

Driving to East Midlands and leaving the car makes sense for some trips, but parking for a week or two adds up quickly, and the cheaper car parks are often a bus ride from the terminal. A return taxi from Nottingham, Derby or Loughborough often costs less than a week’s parking. You also don’t have to drive home after a late flight, and nobody has to give up their evening to collect you.

Early Morning Flights

Many holiday flights from East Midlands leave between 6am and 8am, with check-in opening two hours before. That can mean leaving home at 4am or earlier, before the buses have properly started. We pick up at any hour, the car is booked in advance, and the driver will be outside at the time you set. You get five minutes of free waiting at the door, so have your bags ready.

When to Book

Book as soon as your flight is confirmed, especially for school holidays and early mornings, which are our busiest times at East Midlands. The fare is fixed when you book, so booking early doesn’t cost more, and you can change the pickup time if your flight moves. Last-minute bookings are taken when a driver is free, but booking early is the safest way to get the pickup time you want.

Taxi From East Midlands Airport

For the journey home, book with your flight number. We track the flight and the driver meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board. You get an hour of free waiting from the moment you land, so passport queues and slow baggage reclaim aren’t a problem. The fare home is fixed in advance like the outward trip.

Groups Going Away Together

East Midlands is a popular airport for stag and hen weekends, golf trips and big family holidays. Instead of several cars and several parking bills, book an 8 seater. It takes eight people and eight cases on one fixed fare, and everyone arrives together. For bigger groups we can send more than one vehicle, timed to arrive at the terminal at the same time.

Booking for Someone Else

Lots of our East Midlands bookings are made by family members for parents or grandparents, or by companies for staff. You can make the booking in your name and add the traveller’s mobile number, so the driver contacts them directly on the day. Add any notes about mobility or extra help with luggage and the driver will see them.

Travelling With Children

Child seats are available at £10 each. Tell us the children’s ages when you book so the right seats come with the car, ready fitted. An estate or MPV gives you room for pushchairs and the extra bags that come with a family holiday.

Areas We Cover

  • Nottingham, West Bridgford, Beeston, Long Eaton, Arnold and Hucknall
  • Derby, Spondon, Mickleover, Belper and Ripley
  • Leicester, Loughborough, Shepshed, Coalville and Ashby-de-la-Zouch
  • Melton Mowbray, Burton upon Trent and Mansfield
  • Sheffield and South Yorkshire, priced from your address

Flying From Another Airport?

East Midlands mainly offers short-haul and holiday routes. For long-haul or a wider choice of flights, many people in the region fly from Birmingham, Manchester or one of the London airports instead. We run those routes too:

Which Vehicle Do You Need?

A saloon carries four passengers with two large cases. The estate takes four cases, the MPV six passengers, and our 8 seaters eight passengers with eight cases, which suits big families and groups going away together. Executive cars are available for business travel. Child seats cost £10 each.
