The Route From Maidstone to Heathrow

From Maidstone the driver takes the M20 west and joins the M26, which links to the M25 near Sevenoaks. From there it’s the M25 clockwise past Gatwick and the M23 junction, round to junctions 14 or 15 for Heathrow. Terminals 2 and 3 are reached from junction 15 through the central tunnel, and Terminals 4 and 5 from junction 14.

Outside rush hour it’s around 75 minutes. The section between the M23 and M3 junctions is often the slowest part of the M25, and an accident there can add half an hour. Our drivers check the traffic before setting off and allow extra time for early morning departures and Friday afternoons.

When to Leave Maidstone for Your Flight

Heathrow recommends arriving two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours before a long-haul one. From Maidstone, add an hour and a quarter for the drive and a margin for the M25. For a 9am long-haul departure, that means leaving around 4:15am. Very early starts are actually the easiest; the roads are quiet and the drive is often closer to an hour.

For mid-afternoon flights, plan for more traffic around the M23 and M3 junctions and leave a little earlier. If you’re not sure, tell us your flight time when booking and we’ll suggest a pickup time.

Business Travel From Kings Hill and Maidstone

Kings Hill, Maidstone town centre and the business parks along the M20 send a steady stream of people to Heathrow for work. Our executive cars give you a quiet, comfortable ride where you can take calls or get some work done, and a fixed price makes expenses straightforward. If your company books regularly, ask about a corporate account with monthly invoicing. You’ll find more on our corporate airport transfers page.

Taxi or Train From Maidstone to Heathrow?

By rail, the usual way is Thameslink from Maidstone East into London, then across to the Elizabeth line for Heathrow. Others go from Maidstone West or East to Victoria or Charing Cross and change twice. Either way you’re looking at two hours or more, with at least one change and stairs at each station.

The train makes sense if you’re travelling alone, with hand luggage only, in the middle of the day. For two or more people, or early flights, a fixed-fare taxi from Maidstone often works out about the same and gets you to the terminal door. And if you were planning to drive and park, a week’s parking at Heathrow can cost more than the return taxi.

Driving and Parking vs a Taxi

Driving yourself looks cheaper until you add everything up. There’s fuel for a 134-mile round trip, a week or two of Heathrow parking, the time it takes to get from a long stay car park to the terminal by shuttle bus, and a long drive home after a flight when you’re tired. A return taxi from Maidstone costs a fixed amount, there’s no car sitting in a car park, and nobody in the family has to drive at 5am or after a night flight. For trips longer than a few days, most people find it works out about even or cheaper.

The Cheapest Way to Get From Maidstone to Heathrow

If you’re looking for the cheapest taxi from Maidstone to the airport, these tips help:

  • Book a return. The 5% discount applies to the return leg.
  • Pick the right car. Don’t book an MPV for four people with hand luggage; a saloon does the job.
  • Share the journey. One fare covers the whole car, so a group of four pays a quarter each.
  • Book ahead. The price is fixed when you book, with no surge pricing for early mornings or bank holidays.

Pickups Around Maidstone and the Medway Towns

We collect from any address, including:

  • Maidstone town centre, Bearsted, Allington, Penenden Heath and Shepway
  • Aylesford, Larkfield, Ditton and Kings Hill
  • West Malling, East Malling and Wateringbury
  • Staplehurst, Marden, Headcorn, Sutton Valence and Coxheath
  • Chatham, Rochester, Gillingham and Strood in the Medway towns

The driver comes to your door, rings when they arrive and helps load the luggage. You get five minutes of free waiting at home pickups, which is plenty if your bags are packed and by the door.

Coming Home From Heathrow

For the return journey, give us your flight number and terminal. The driver tracks the flight, meets you inside the arrivals hall with a name board, and you get an hour of free waiting after landing. If your flight is delayed by hours, there’s no extra charge for the change.

Arriving at Heathrow late at night with a long drive into Kent is exactly when a pre-booked car is worth it. There’s no hunting for the last train to Maidstone East and no taxi rank queue.

Which Vehicle Do You Need?

A saloon fits four passengers with two big cases. Families going on holiday usually need more room, so the estate takes four cases and the MPV seats six. Our 8 seaters fit eight people and eight cases, which suits big families and groups heading off together. Executive cars are there if you want something more comfortable for a business trip.

Child seats cost £10 each. Tell us the age of each child when booking and we’ll bring the right seat.

  • Door-to-terminal service at any Heathrow terminal
  • Heathrow drop-off charge and any tolls on the way
  • Flight tracking and an hour of free waiting on your return
  • Meet and greet in arrivals
